Rishi Kumar Shukla Becomes CBI Director.

Positive India: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has, based on the panel recommended by the Committee constituted as per Section 4A(1) of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, approved the appointment of Rishi Kumar Shukla, IPS(MP:1983) as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) vice Alok Kumar Verma, IPS(AGMU:1979), for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the office.
IPS Rishi Kumar Shukla has also served in Intelligence Bureau. He Appointment Committee consisting of PM Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Opposition leader in Loksabha Mallikarjun Kharge appointed him with 2-1 consent. As usual, Mallikarjun Kharge was not in favour of Rishi Kumar Shukla on the ground of his inexperience of CBI. Both PM and Chief Justice gave their consent for Rishi Kumar Shukla based on his ACR of 96 and his seniority.
